DOES THE AMOUNT OF CONTROL A DIRECTOR HAS DEFINE THEIR PERSONAL AMBITIONS?
The producer has a very good point when s/he argues about marketability. Producer and director decide at the beginning of their relationship/project what kind of audience is aimed at. This crucial decision and set-up for the project is the key to further communication and is the TRUE VISION of the project. When conflict arises then producer and director can return to their inital agreement and contemplate if their new decisions are serving the cause or if the inital agreement needs to be changed.
If the vision of the director departs from the vision of the producer there is a major problem in production. Obviously this happens, but it’s not preferable.
Famous example: “Apocalypse Now”.
